Understanding Dental Insurance in Singapore

Dental insurance can help individuals and their families in receiving the necessary dental treatments and care without having to worry about their dental bills.

Depending on your coverage, dental insurance helps to subsidise your treatment costs like dental implants and root canal treatment, making essential dental care more accessible and affordable. It allows you to have your regular dental check-ups and preventive care to avoid severe and costly dental issues in the future.

DENTAL INSURANCE COVERAGE

1. Dental Insurance Coverage

Most dental insurance plans cover preventive dental care which includes routine dental check-ups, cleanings, and X-rays. Preventive dental care is essential for maintaining good oral health and detecting potential issues early.

2. Basic Dental Care

Basic dental care includes common treatments such as fillings, extractions, and periodontal care for gum disease.

3. Restorative Dental Care

Procedures like crowns, bridges, dentures, and root canals fall under major restorative care. These treatments are more complex and costly, but dental insurance can significantly reduce the financial burden.

Types of Dental Insurance

Dental Insurance 2

Company-Sponsored Dental Insurance

Some companies offer this type of dental insurance as part of their employee benefits. Typically, the companies pay for the dental insurance policies for their employee and their employees are only required to pay the subsidised treatment fees. The payment structure for the policies may involve a co-payment or other financial arrangements.

Our Dental Insurance partners

Depending on your dental insurance and coverage, you may be eligible for cashless payment of your dental bill where our clinic will bill your dental insurance provider directly.

However, in some cases, you may need to pay for your treatment upfront and file your insurance claims on your own. Understanding this process can help you plan your claims accordingly.

Step 1: Registration

When you arrive for your appointment, please present your identification card and dental insurance card to our front desk staff during registration.

Step 2: Verify Insurance Coverage

Our staff will check your dental insurance coverage and inform you if you are eligible for direct billing (cashless) payment, where we will bill your dental insurance provider directly.

Sometimes, you may have to pay for the treatment upfront and submit the claims on your own.

A letter of authorisation may be required from the dental insurance provider to determine the extent of your coverage before starting your treatment.

Step 3: Dental Procedure

Once your dental insurance provider confirms that the treatment is covered, you can proceed with the procedure.

Step 4: Payment

After your treatment, our staff will inform you if any payment is required.

For those eligible for direct billing, we will submit the claim to your dental insurance provider on your behalf.

If you need to self-claim from your dental insurance provider, we will provide you with a copy of the invoice and the necessary supporting documents.
