Model Based Approach
The model based approach involves a CT scan being taken of a patient’s jaw, which is then used to build a 3D image of the teeth and jaw from which to work from.
Treatment planning is first done on a stone model and the next step involves having a surgical template produced by the laboratory.
This template acts to provide a more controlled environment and offers more confidence during the surgery. With careful planning and proper laboratory support, implants can be placed precisely as planned with a flapless approach. Subsequently, a temporary prosthesis can then be placed.
This approach is applicable to single missing tooth and multiple missing teeth cases.
